Hay Kells Book Festival, Meath, until June 28

The Hay/Kells Book Festival is the Irish offshoot of the Hay Festival in Wales, hosting authors, performers, historians, chefs and children’s writers. We’ll be catching Newstalk presenter Tom Dunne’s talk about his ‘work in progress’ – an account of touring the USA with the legendary but often bizarre rock star, the late Warren Zevon (1.30pm, Sunday June 28, €5) and dining at the Dunboyne Festive Feast in the gardens of the Headfort Arms Hotel, where foodies will enjoy taster boards of local bread, flavoured butters, oils and pestos followed by a gourmet barbecue. Tickets €25.
