The Pregnancy Diaries: Week 9 – ‘So… what CAN I do?!’

So, our baby is about half an inch in length. It’s so strange to imagine this being growing inside me, especially when I can’t see or feel anything. Apparently it’s roughly the size of a grape and even the eyes are formed!

As a result of my ongoing bleed, I’ve been put on strict pelvic rest (that’s basically no sex) and ordered to take it easy on the exercise front. The first is not so hard as I have the energy and libido of a wooden table but I was looking forward to taking up swimming at the local gym.

However, I suppose it’s a small price to pay for now and we’re determined to stay upbeat about the baby as it’s still so early. The bleed is light but a constant reminder of my fears, so I’ve decided to confide in others about what’s going on. I’m meeting close friends this weekend and I’m looking forward to releasing some of this tension.

So for now, it’s long relaxing walks and some TLC. Thankfully, I don’t have a really bad diet but I am starting to pay more attention to what I’m ingesting. More fruit and fibre is definitely needed and is starting to become commonplace around the kitchen. Whether it gets eaten this week is another question but at least it’s here.

I haven’t had any cravings but I have to admit this is a good excuse when your hubby is on his way home and you fancy something naughty. It also means he can pick up those other essentials (when he’s there) – yes this trick will work out well for me over the next few months!
