This Facebook Post Sums Mother’s Day Up Perfectly

We are all well aware that being a great mum isn’t about being ‘perfect’.

Our kids get much more out of us when we’re not stressing about the housework or trying to figure out how to cook a month’s worth of dinners in advance, or whether or not our hair is looking amazing today.

Because kids don’t care about any of that.

All they truly care about is being with you, the person who is happy to play with them, chat to them about whatever crazy topic they have going on inside their heads (the latest in our house is that Jacob claims he used to live in New York as a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle ‘many years ago’ – hilarious).

They care about the attention you give them; the walks on the beach, the cuddle time, blowing bubbles in the bath and reading a story.

‘Perfection’ by any other means simply doesn’t matter, right?

That’s why we just love this Mother’s Day Post from the Hurrah For Gin blog (aside from it’s awesome name, obviously).

We all have good days and bad days as mums, but ultimately, the things that we perceive as ‘failures’ aren’t noticed by the little ones at all so, crack open a bottle later, and cheers yourself for being fabulously normal.

We most definitely will be joining you!

Happy Mother’s Day to the imperfect mums. The ones who shout too much and silently scream fuck off into the fridge….
