Louise Bruton is a mum of two young children so she knows full well what the first few days of motherhood are like.
If you’re getting ready to welcome a little bundle of joy, here are 5 things she says to expect in the first 5 days of your new role…
1. Your boobs will be HUGE! Think of when Katie Price went by the name Jordan kind of huge. Oh, and they’ll be painful, leaky and utterly awful.
2. You will cry happy tears, sad tears and unknown tears. Day number 5 is tough. You will experience such a mixture of emotions so expect to be ecstatic, emotional, overwhelmed and everything in between!
3. Your lady bits will be so sore that you may not even be able to sit, although everyone will keep telling you to sit and rest. Don’t be a hero, take some painkillers.
4. You will bleed….a lot. It’s like the longest period of your life so be prepared. You’ll practically need nappies. I remember my mother handing me a pack of sanitary towels for my hospital bag on baby number one and I thought she was off her trolley. My sister-in-law soon gave me the reality check I needed and I realised that yes, I would most definitely need pads.
5. The love you will feel will be so strong that it will override all of the crappy things above. You will have so much love for this teeny, tiny person and it’s a love you never even knew was possible. So lap up the first five days a much as you can. They will go by in a haze of emotion and sleep deprivation. Oh, and don’t forget to make the most of that newborn baby smell!
