This INTENSE Bedtime Chart Is Making Us Feel Seriously Inadequate

With the whole back-to-school palaver finally settling down (though the mid-term break is sure to screw with all our hard-won efforts on the routine front) it seems timely that a chart claiming to hold the answers to life’s biggest question – When the hell should our kids be going to bed? – has gone viral.

Posted to Facebook by an American primary school, the chart details the appropriate bedtime for your child based on age and wake up time, because apparently, it’s just that easy. Right.

Obviously as a normal human I deeply resent being told what to do and especially by some anonymous chart-maker who a) doesn’t know my child and b) doesn’t seem to know his 24 hour clock form his 12 hour clock (check out second column from the left when he randomly breaks into a bit of 24 hour clock for no reason whatsoever).

But maybe it’s just me who resents these kind of prescriptive and totally unachievable routines.

What do you think? Are you putting your child to bed at the ‘right’ time according to this? Or are our kids too damn mercurial and unpredictable to adhere to a sleep chart?
