“What about you?”
Coronation Street viewers were delighted last night when Jim McDonald made his long-awaited return to Weatherfield.
The ex-con’s return to the cobbles has been teased for months, with some rumours about the reason behind his return.
It all began to unfold on Friday night, as he walked in when his son, Steve, was celebrating his stag do at the Rovers – and while fans were happy to see him, it didn’t seem like many other people were.
Jim pleaded with Liz for just a few minutes of her time, while a furious Steve stormed out of the pub. Eventually, his ex-wife relented – and they had a chat in the back room.
Jim was keen to know why “Stephen is marrying the anti-Christ” and why Liz isn’t the landlady of the Rovers any longer.
And there’s one thing in particular about his return that had Coronation Street fans in stitches.
Before they actually went into the nitty gritty of what’s been going on over the last few years, Jim asked Liz for something to drink – but she had a strong warning for him first.
She said:
“If you do anything to hurt Steve again, I will make you wish you had been left to rot in that prison. Do I make myself clear?”
He replied:
“Crystal. Now we’ve got the threats out of the way, I don’t suppose I could trouble for a wee something to drink?
“All this grovelling, builds up a brave thirst, so it does.”
Fans were delighted about the fact that he said this, as they took it as a variation on his classic catchphrase: “So it is.”
He nearly said it! #Corrie
