Microwave Mug Pizza Is A Thing. Here’s How to Make It…

Did you ever find yourself in a situation where you needed pizza now? Like, right now. Not ‘order a pizza and wait 30 minutes’ now.

Well if ever such a craving should strike, there is a way to go from zero pizza to shoveling pizza into your mouth in one minute and 20 seconds.

How? By zapping a curious combination of ingredients in the microwave; that’s how.

The invention of Irish food blogger and our new favourite person Gemma Stafford, the Microwave Mug Pizza is a game changer.

“It is real food fast, better than fast food and you will not believe the results.” says Gemma.

“This single serving recipe can be whipped up in five minutes and eaten even faster. It’s the perfect solution when you are on the go and want something homemade and satisfying.”

Sold? Yep. Us too. Here’s how to make it:

Ingredients
  • 4 tablespoons all purpose flour
  • ⅛ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/16 teaspoon baking soda
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon marinara sauce
  • 1 generous tablespoons shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 5 mini pepperoni
  • ½ teaspoon dried Italian herbs
Instructions
  1. Mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt together in a microwavable mug
  2. Add in the milk and oil with whisk together. There might be some lumps but that is okay.
  3. Spoon on the marinara sauce and spread it around the surface of the batter
  4. Sprinkle on the cheese, pepperoni and dried herbs
  5. Microwave for 1 minute 10-20 seconds, or until it rises up and the toppings are bubbling (timing is based on a 1200W microwave so your timing might vary)
  6. Enjoy straight away!

Note:Cooking time will vary greatly depending on your microwave and the width and depth of the mug. Always keep a close eye on your mug while in the microwave so it doesn’t overflow or over cook.
