Spooky season has arrived: Meringue mummies are our must-make treat this Hallowe’en

Hallowe’en is just around the corner (we can’t believe it either) and it’s one of our favourite times of the year. The costumes, the parties, the scary movies, the trick or treating, and most importantly, the sweet treats! 

These gorgeous meringue mummies will satisfy every sweet tooth. They’re simply spooktacular.

Makes 4

Ingredients

  • 4 pears or apples
  • 240 g Siúcra/McKinney’s Icing Sugar
  • 1 egg white
  • 2 ml vinegar

Method:

  1. Using an electric whisk, beat all the ingredients into a smooth mixture.
  2. Put the icing into a piping bag and cut off the tip.
  3. Cover the fruit with the icing.
  4. Place on a wire rack until set.
