The World’s Best Wine Has Been Revealed (And It’s Cheap!)

We love wine but we’re not into spending a LOT of money on a bottle, so you can imagine our delight to hear that the best red wine in the world costs around €5.50.

That’s right, 240 international wine experts reportedly picked a red wine from Asda as the ‘Best in Show’ at this year’s Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA).

The panel picked La Moneda Reserva Malbec from Chile after blind-tasting more than 16,000 other red and white wines. It also won the Chilean red category.

The red, which was chosen because of its quality and value for money, apparently tastes like “freshly crushed black fruit, creamy vanilla yoghurt and pepper spice.”

DWWA chairman Steven Spurrier explained: “Our sole purpose is to recognise and reward quality, this is what consumers all over the world are interested in. We only award medals to wines in which consumers can have the utmost confidence.”

Like we said, the wine is stocked by supermarket Asda, retailing at £4.37 per bottle. Unfortunately, it is currently sold out on their website and it’s also out of stock on Amazon.

If you find out where we can get our hands on a few bottles, let us know!
