It might be balmy right now, but autumn is just around the corner… and we’ve had a sneak peek at what IKEA is planning for the cosy season.
If you’re planning a proper refurb, there’s two new very affordable kitchens on the way, as well as a range of gorgeous textiles, sophisticated bedding, fun tables, an utterly covetable rocking chair and two new rugs that are tough enough for the outdoors. They’re also adding a delicious pulled barbecue salmon sandwich to the restaurant menu, so even more reason to make a day of it once the summer holidays are over.
Smart stylistas will get shopping before the leaves start falling. Here’s what we’re lusting after…
GRÖNADAL ROCKING-CHAIR (€175)
Traditional Vietnamese handcraft and modern Scandinavian style come together in this chic rattan chair.
ELVARLI STORAGE SYSTEM (€440)
Whether for a walk-in wardrobe, hallway solution or a business, the ELVARLI storage system provides open storage that’s easy to get just right, while looking nice. The free-standing posts make it an ideal room divider too.
VARDAGEN DINNERWARE (from €1.50 for a side plate)
Already available in white, the series now sees the addition of dark grey pieces – perfect with autumn just round the corner. A teapot and jug in white are also included in this release.
HÄRLIGA GLASS DOME (€12)
Whether it’s to show off an antique statue, protect a precious clock or anything in between, this glass dome does the job – and for a fraction of the price of most hipster interiors stores and websites too.
KNOXHULT KITCHEN (cabinets from €50)
This is a complete kitchen available in a number of pre-set combinations in a white and wood effect. Sleek and homely… and Instagram ready in as little as a day.
ÄNGSLILJA QUILT COVER (€25 including pillowcases)
With a washed cotton feel, this quilt cover will now come in super stylish grey, light blue or white.
GLADOM TRAY TABLES (€25)
A modern-looking side table that’s small and flexible enough to be placed anywhere in the home, the GLADOM is made from smooth metal in soft and dusty yellow or green. It comes with a removable tray that looks nice by itself placed nearby – and it’s a total bargain.
BARKABODA WORKTOP (€200)
This herringbone pattern is not only divine to look at, it’s also durable, with a layer of solid wood that covers a particleboard core to stand up to water, moisture, heat and scratches.
SUNNERSTA MINI-KITCHEN (€99)
Sometimes installing a large kitchen isn’t necessary, or too expensive and time-consuming. That’s why SUNNERSTA mini-kitchen was developed. Free-standing, it meets the needs of customers who want basic kitchen functions with easy installation at a great price. It’s also a sweet way to revamp a dated holiday home.
LOBBÄK RUG (€69)
Designed in a traditional herringbone pattern, this is a hard-wearing rug that works well in the dining room as it’s flatwoven, able to handle the daily movements of chairs. It’s even tough enough to work outdoors, where it can withstand snow and sun!
KLÄTTA DECORATION STICKERS (€12)
Whether used a fast way to get some fun decoration on the wall, or as a way to cover up flaws or cracks, KLÄTTA decoration stickers do it both. Plus they don’t damage walls and they’re easy to put on and peel off.
