This Is The Hottest Shade to Paint Your Walls Right Now

This week we welcome Guest Blogger and interiors queen Siobhan Lam of April and the Bear. She’ll be sharing her DIY secrets for fixing up your home and how to embrace the sweetest hue of the season.

There is something innately nostalgic about pink, it evokes sugary flavours from childhood, like candyfloss and sticks of seaside-bought rock, it evokes a simpler time when all we had to concern ourselves with was which blush fairytale princess tutu to wear that day –  so when rose-quartz was announced as one of THE Pantone colours of the year, I was confused yet excited. How on earth could that saccharine hue be incorporated into a home? But as I’ve discovered, pink makes for a fresh, modern shade when incorporated into interiors – here’s how to work it into yours.

Grab a Brush
Pink creates a luxe and glamorous atmosphere when painted on walls, but is still warm enough to keep a room cosy. Add lots of black accessories into the mix to keep it from looking too feminine.

Go Outside

Don’t limit this soft shade to inside the house. Create a quirky outside lounging area by simply throwing a few tactile cushions in your favourite sunny spot. Keep the palette nice and neutral and combine soft pink with shimmering silver for a fresh Spring look!

Choose a Statement Piece

Go big with a statement piece like this large rose-tinted mirror – the blush glass surface and sheer size ensures that all attention will be on it!

Softly does it

If you’re unsure about pink – try it in a small way. Introduce a pink vase or trinket tray to your décor and see how you feel about that. This colour trend is about having fun, so give it a go – you might just like it!
