An ‘iconic’ EastEnders character is going to be returning to Albert Square this Christmas

Oooh, we can’t wait for this.

Christmastime in soapland is far from the cosy, family-friendly holiday we all know and love.

Instead of a day celebration, family and good will towards others, Christmas is more about breakups, drama and death for our favourite soap characters.

And it looks Christmas is going to be particularly dramatic Albert Square this year as an “iconic” character is set to return to EastEnders.

Actor Dean Gaffney recently revealed that the mystery (but very familiar) character is going to be back for a “very interesting” storyline this holiday season.

Why is Christmas so far away?!

Gaffney, who plays Robbie Jackson, told Digital Spy:

“It’s Christmas in Walford. It speaks for itself! We’ve got a returnee coming back, which is exciting!

“For me, personally, I’m a good friend of this person — whoever they may be! I think they’re iconic with EastEnders.

“There’s certain people that come back to a show, they might not add to it, but this person definitely adds to it!

“It’s good to have this person back. Their storyline at Christmas will be very interesting.”

Last year was particularly dramatic in Walford, as Lauren and Abi Branning fell off the roof of the Queen Vic when trying to save their dad, Max.
