Arrests Made After Baby Found Dead On London Bus

A man and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a three-month-old baby girl was found dead on a London bus on Wednesday.

According to Scotland Yard, the baby girl was discovered “unresponsive” at approximately 10.20am on Wednesday, September 28, on Carpenter Road at the junction with High Street in Stratford.

The infant was immediately transferred to hospital where she was pronounced dead. A woman, aged 27, was arrested at the hospital. A 52-year-old man was also arrested some time later at an address in east London. Both are being questioned separately.

A post-mortem on the baby, who has not yet been formally identified, is due to be carried out today at St Thomas Hospital.

Detective Chief Inspector Gary Holmes said: “The death of any child is tragic and we would appeal for anyone with information to please come forward as soon as possible to help with our inquiries.”
