A baby born with 31 fingers and toes will have the extra digits removed.
The baby, known as Hong Hong, was born with 11 extra fingers and toes – five more on his hands and six more on his toes.
Chinese born Hong Hong was diagnosed with polydactylism, a condition that leads newborns to have one or two extra digits per limb.
However, Hong Hong’s condition was considerably more severe.
His mother was also born with the condition, leading her to have an extra finger on each hand.
Last year, Hong Hong’s parents started raising money to pay for surgery to remove their baby’s extra digits.
It was reported sometime afterwards by Asia Wire Report that doctors in China were planning to operate on the boy.
The hospital had agreed to lower the cost of the surgery, which could have been as high as $75,000.
The operation involves removing the extra digits and reshaping those remaining.
