A baby boy has died after being attacked by a Staffordshire bull terrier in Colchester, Essex.
A second boy suffered serious injuries and a woman, believed to be the child’s mother, was also injured when the dog attacked at a home in Harwich Road, Colchester yesterday afternoon.
Police were called to the property just after 3pm and all three victims were transferred to Colchester General Hospital, where the baby was pronounced dead.
The dog has been removed from the property.
Chief Insp Elliot Judge said:
‘This is a tragic incident that Essex Police is investigating.
“Specially trained officers are providing support to the family at this difficult time.
‘We will not be making any further statement at this time and would ask the media to respect the family’s privacy.’
