Investigation Launched After Child Found In Woman’s Hand Luggage On Flight

An investigation has been launched after a child was allegedly discovered in a woman’s hand luggage on an Air France flight from Istanbul to France on Monday.

According to French website Planet.fr, a fellow passenger alerted crew after they noticed something moving inside the bag halfway through the journey.

AFP reports that the woman was in the process of adopting the girl from Haiti.

It seems she was prevented from boarding a flight with the child. She then decided to buy a new ticket for another flight and hid the toddler in a bag for boarding.

She reportedly placed the child at her feet under a blanket once on board.

After the discovery was made, the two were moved to the front of the plane for the remainder of the flight.

Police met them at the airport on landing and an investigation is ongoing. The airline told Mashable that “Air France will fully cooperate with the investigation.”

UPDATE: According to BBC News, prosecutors decided not to press charges.
