Too frustrated by the mountain of election leaflets on your door mat to read them? Too annoyed by the garish election posters blotting your neighbourhood to really consider the big face asking for your ‘No. 1’?
If #GE2016 has left you more mystified than motivated, an interactive website designed by the Union of Students in Ireland could help you sort the wheat from the chaff in terms of candidates that represent your views – and you don’t even have to stand on your doorstep chatting to canvassers to do it.
The people behind Smart Vote asked each candidate in every constituency to answer 30 questions. All you have to do is log on and take the test yourself and the site will find your ideal candidate based on your results and their answers.
The app is revolutionising the way Irish people vote, with questions covering emotive issues such as abortion and immigration as well as topics such as health insurance and Jobbridge.
