Coronation Street fans were left horrified tonight after Evelyn Plummer brutally punished her granddaughter, Hope.
Tyrone’s outspoken gran has been pushing the boundaries ever since she moved in with her grandson and Fiz.
But she took things too far tonight when she punished the young schoolgirl – even threatening to use violence on her if she misbehaved.
Evelyn had agreed to babysit Hope after she refused to go to school. She was later seen pushing the terrified young girl’s face into the wall.
She snarled at her granddaughter:
“Keep your nose pressed up against the wall you wicked girl. You move one muscle I’ll come down on you so hard.”
Fiz and Tyrone were shocked and horrified when they returned to the living room and saw what was happening.
She released Hope, who immediately ran to her mum for comfort – while Tyrone demanded to know what happened.
Evelyn, however, was unapologetic about what happened. Instead, she insisted that Hope be punished for knocking over her massive jigsaw puzzle and ripping Ruby’s new doll.

Earlier in the episode, Evelyn made it totally clear that she wasn’t a fan of Hope, who was suspended last week after she bit her teacher.
She told Rita that Ruby was her favourite – while Hope was just a few feet away.
And when Rita tried to tell her that she shouldn’t have favourites, Evelyn called Hope a “nasty little madam” who didn’t deserve any treats as she was in the doghouse.
