They welcomed their first child last year, but Sherlock star Benedict Cumberbatch and his theatre and opera director wife Sophie Hunter are already expanding their brood, unveiling a brand new Cumber-bump at the Hollywood premier of Doctor Strange last night.
Benedict (40) and Sophie (38) are set to welcome a brother or sister for their boy Christopher Carlton Cumberbatch in 2017.
Christopher, who arrived on June 1, 2015 at the swanky Portland Hospital in London’s Westminster, shares a first name with the character his dad played in the television adaptation of Parade’s End, while the middle name is another nod to the family tree- both Benedict and his own father Timothy share the middle name Carlton.
Speaking to a magazine in 2013, the actor, who is an only child, said he was looking forward to becoming a dad:
‘I was happy as an only child, but I’ve always wanted to be part of a bigger family.” he said.
With another Cumber-bun in the oven, it looks like all the Cumber-Dad’s dreams are about to come true!
