Don’t pack up the paddling pool just yet – Indian summer on the way

It’s been a damp and dull summer this year, but in what seems like an age old tradition, the sun is due to make an appearance at last… just as the kids go back to school.

Forecasters are predicting an Indian summer for Ireland, with highs of more than 18 degrees expected. And it’ll start getting warmer next week… right after the heavens open for yet another deluge on Monday.

Despite the gloomy weather, Met Éireann climatologists say that 2015 hasn’t actually been as bad as we imagine. In fact, it doesn’t even feature in the worst 20 per cent of summers since records began, although it felt colder because temperatures were around 1.5 degrees lower than usual.

If you’re planning the last barbecue of the season, Sunday is expected to be the star this weekend, with a good deal of dry and sunny weather forecast and highs of 16 to 18 degrees.
