Imelda May pens heartbreaking tribute after death of her mother

“Our matriarch, our supreme queen”

Imelda May has penned a heartbreaking tribute to her mother Madge who has died at the age of 94.

The singer confirmed the devastating news on Instagram.

Alongside a beautiful photo of her mother smiling with an Irish feather boa wrapped around her, the singer shared, “Mother mo Chroí. Madge Clabby (nee Comerford) 1927-2021.”

“Our dearest darling mother passed away yesterday. She drifted gently in her sleep and took her last breath, in her own bed with her beloved husband Tony by her side.”

“We couldn’t have wished for better. She deserved all,” May wrote.

“The effects of her fierce strength, infinite compassion, generosity, determination, quick wit, humour, vibrancy, sharp mind and deep spirit will outlive her and endure.”

“Our matriarch, our supreme queen, has gone to the awaiting ancestors.”

“The sorrow is deep, our hearts are hurting, but gratitude is abundant and love all-consuming.”

Friends and fans of the singer penned moving messages of love and support.

Annie MacManus wrote, “Oh darling. What a life. Sending you all my love.”

“Deepest condolences to you and all the family. Lovely lady always great fun and a pleasure to meet. There will be a sing-song in paradise tonight. Lots of love and light to you all the clan at this hard time,” another wrote.
