Finally We Can Blame Our Friends For Our Drunkenness, Science Says So

At last a study that makes us feel good about ourselves!

Scientists have discovered that getting ‘contact drunk’ is a thing… which means that finally, we can officially blame our friends for our drunkenness.

KNEW it!

Have you ever experienced the feeling of feeling drunker depending on who you are on a night out with? Regardless of how many cocktails you’re indulging in?

Researchers from BioMed Central Health tell us that we’re not imagining things!

The study carried out in bars with 1862 participants on Friday and Saturday nights, asked participants to evaluate how inebriated they were and how inebriated their friends were. Then researchers tested their alcohol levels and the alcohol levels of their companions and compared the drunkness they reported feeling to how much alcohol was actually in their system.

What the study found was that if your friends are all very drunk, then you are likely to feel more sober by comparison even though you may, in fact, be more intoxicated.

Researchers say this may result is us consuming more alcohol when in the company of drunken friends because we are telling ourselves that we are more sober than our friends.

So in essence it’s not our fault that we’re over-refreshed at bookclub, it’s those pesky, bad influence friends of ours…
