A four-year-old boy accidentally shot and killed his grandfather on Sunday.
57-year-old Danny Patrick was shooting his rifle with his grandson when the young boy accidentally shot the gun at the man.
The grandfather was pronounced dead at the scene.
Sheriff Randy Cartwright of Pasquotank County, North Carolina released a statement following the incident.
He said that the four-year-old made his way to a nearby residence where he informed the occupant that his grandfather was dead.
Police officers arrived on the scene at 2.30pm.
Speaking on WAVY-TV news, a neighbour Margaret Mullen called the incident “tragic” and said that Patrick and his grandson were “good people.”
