A group of schoolchildren were engulfed by an avalanche in the French Alps on Wednesday.
According to reports, the incident in Deux Alpes in Isere left three dead – two children and a Ukranian tourist – and several others seriously injured.
The group were apparently skiing with an instructor when the avalanche struck at approximately 4pm local time. Those who were injured were taken to a hospital in Grenoble.
All other students from the group have been accounted for and are now reported as safe.
It has been reported that the tragedy happened on a close ski run and that there was an avalanche warning beforehand.
