It was glorious while it lasted, but it looks like summer 2016 could be coming to an end, with sunny skies making way for thick clouds this week.
Kicking off with thundery showers across most of the country, especially across the midlands and north and northwest, at least temperatures will remain between 17 to 20C – for now.
According to Met Eireann however, Thursday night will bring heavy thundery rain and brisk easterly winds, with spot flooding likely later in the night. Temperatures will also drop to between 11 to 14C with fresh and gusty easterly winds.
Friday will be windy with outbreaks of rain throughout the day. The worst of it will be in the morning, so if you’re making plans, aim for the afternoon when brighter spells are expected.
As for the weekend, we have three words for you: heavy thundery showers.
In classic Irish style there will be a few dry spells when warm sunshine will break through, but bring a brolly to be on the safe side.
