Home Sweet Home Group Give A Glimpse Inside Apollo House

Apollo House is a formely vacant property in NAMA’s portfolio. It has been opened up by Home Sweet Home, a coalition of different housing groups to take people off the streets.

The group have provided a glimpse into life inside Apollo House with a short clip posted to YouTube. A vacant NAMA controlled office block for six years, through the efforts of hundreds of volunteers the building has now been turned into a home for many people who would otherwise be sleeping rough during this harsh winter.

Home Sweet Home said:

“Apollo House was taken over by NAMA and is due to be sold off and demolished. As we know well, it’s one of 100,000’s of empty buildings in this country that was lying idle during the worst housing crisis in recent Irish history.

There are over 6,000 empty homes in South Dublin alone. Yet for reasons only known to government, there have been no repurcussions for landlords, developers and NAMA who are sitting on these buildings.”

Amazing work guys. The country is behind you.
