The IKEA Order and Collection Point In Carrickmines Opens Today

Flat-pack fans, rejoice.

Today is the day when Ikea open the doors to their brand new Order & Collection point at  The Park retail park in Carrickmines.

The Ikea Order & Collection Point is a new retail format Ikea are currently trying out in seleceted countries around the world, with shops in Norwich, Aberdeen, and London already up and running. But before you pack the kids in the car to head out for some serious browsing, here are four things you should know about the Carrickmines store:

1. It is much smaller than Ikea in Ballymun

The Order & Collection Point is much smaller than a traditional Ikea store, and will not carry the full range of products that you find there. Instead, this will, according to Ikea bosses, offer their customers a “whole new way to shop,” with everything available to order for collection or home deliver, you just won’t be able to bring it home on the day, like you are from the original Ikea store.

2. You can plan your home from there

The inspirational areas will be set up so customers can browse and create mood boards with items from the full Ikea range, making it easier to know what you want to order and furnish your house with. In addition, there will be in-house interiors experts on hand to help you with any design questions you might have.

3. There will still be meatballs

In addition to being able to browse some lovely inspirational areas for home-ideas and being tempted to put your order in, the Ikea Order & Collection Point will have a café and juice bar with free WiFi – and a small selection of take-home Swedish Food Market products, including frozen meatballs.

3. Smaller bits will be available to buy

We know how you love the Market Hall in Ikea Ballymun with all the bits and bobs to be tempted by (and we frequently are), but be aware that the full range won’t be available in the new Carrickmines store. However, Ikea says they will still have a “small range” of Market Hall products there to buy and take home on the day. Phew!

This is what Ikea Ireland Market Manager, Marsha Smith had to say about the new store:

“We’re delighted to open the doors to this new version of IKEA and welcome our first customers. This is a completely new shopping concept for IKEA in Ireland and I’m sure that new and existing customers will really benefit from the increased convenience that the Order and Collection Point offers. In particular, the new format really allows customers the time, support and assistance to plan bigger purchases such as their dream kitchen or bedroom. We’ve had a lot of positive feedback over the last number of months so we expect the first few weeks will be busy.”
