5-Year-old Narrowly Escapes Death After Dublin Shooting

It’s not Dublin these days without some kind of gangland shooting news to wake up to, but this awful news today just takes it to an entirely new low.

It has been reported, a shooting occurred around 7pm last night outside a McDonalds at the Charlestown Shopping Centre in Finglas. Gunmen opened fire at a car parked outside the centre.

But they missed their target. Instead, a stray bullet hit a family car passing by, went through the side door and pierced the child’s car seat, WITH the 5-year-old in it. Luckily, he was not injured, the bullet narrowly missed and hit the child’s car seat instead.

The two cars involved sped off. Local TD Noel Rock said: “A Friday night at a shopping centre shows there is a clear seeping of gangland crime into the everyday lives of families.”

“The fact that these shots narrowly missed a young child shows the real danger posed by these thugs.”

“I’m afraid I have to call on the Minister for Justice to take a far more robust stance on this matter, as this is clearly escalating in this part of Dublin.”

An Odeon cinema and a children’s funfair are both near where the incident occurred, no doubt, packed with families enjoying a normal Friday evening. It’s a scary reality of living in Dublin these days that you can’t go out with your young family in the knowledge that you are safe.

Gardai are examining the footage and damage, hopefully more details will emerge.
