The latest weather forecast shows temperatures plummeting today

Well, this is pretty miserable

Wrap up warm folks!

While the pouring rain has (mostly) stopped and the snow seems a thing of the past, don’t get too excited because temperatures are likely to drop to -4 degrees this evening.

Met.ie confirmed that the day will have slight sunny spells, but you better layer the clothing on tonight.

“Many parts will be dry today with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. However, generally cloudier skies will prevail over eastern areas, with a few showers affecting eastern coastal counties, with perhaps the odd one spreading further inland this afternoon.

“Afternoon highs of 5 to 9 degrees in mainly light north to northeast breezes.”

The forecast continues: “Cold and largely dry tonight apart from isolated showers near eastern coasts.

“Long clear spells will occur in near calm conditions. Lowest temperatures of minus 4 and plus 1 degrees Celsius, leading to a widespread sharp or severe frost and the risk of ice on untreated surfaces.”

Stay in and stay warm!
