Looks like we’ll be spending the rest of the week indoors as weather set to worsen

If you’re hoping that the weather is going to improve, you probably don’t want to read on. You also probably don’t want to hear that the outlook for the weekend isn’t looking great either (which means another weekend spent keeping the little ones entertained indoors.)

Met Éireann has issued a status orange wind warning for Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo with gusts of up to 120 km/h expected. The warning is in place until Friday morning.

There are also a number of status yellow wind warnings in place covering Cavan, Leinster, Monaghan, Roscommon, Tipperary and Waterford as well as Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick with winds up to 100 km/h.

It comes as reports claim Storm Abigail will be wreaking havoc across the UK over the coming days.

In general today will see heavy downpours and temperatures between 11 and 13 degrees Celsius. This evening, the rain will ease somewhat and temperatures will drop to around 6 degrees Celsius.

Thursday will bring more strong winds and heavy showers with highest temperatures around 11 to 13 degrees Celsius however it will turn much colder as the day progresses.

As for the weekend, Friday will be cold and windy with widespread showers and a risk of hail or thunder. The weekend looks to bring more unsettled conditions in most areas.

Guess we’ll just have to bring out the old board games to keep us entertained on Saturday and Sunday… we don’t mind so much, we are the masters of Snakes & Ladders.
