C’mon David, get a grip.
It’s been years since Emmerdale kicked off their Maya grooming Jacob storyline. Decades, even.
Or at least that’s what it feels like when you’re sat there trying to unwind on a Monday evening and then all of a sudden you’re confronted with an adult woman coaxing a teenager into having sex with her.
It’s grim, but it’s also reflective of the reality of grooming and everything that is wrong with the people who do it.
So yeah, we’ll probably have to go along with it all for a little bit longer until Maya gets what’s coming to her.
This week’s scenes, however, seem to suggest that she might be figured out sooner rather than later because she and Jacob are finally going to be caught alone together by David.
Remember him? You know, the dad of Jacob and also the man Maya is supposed to be dating who has no idea that this whole debacle has been going on?
We know, we were surprised he was still knocking about too.
Thank god he is though because he arrives back early from his trip and catches his girlfriend and son alone together.
Thankfully they are just sitting on the sofa at this moment in time, but his facial expression seems to suggest that he isn’t all that delighted about the pair seemingly looking so cosy.
See? Not delighted at all.
However, no doubt Maya will come up with some elaborate excuse as to why she and Jacob are alone and David will continue on his life none the wiser.
She is a pro at this stuff, after all.
