“This is totally normal for Meghan.”
As fans of the royal family are no doubt aware, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are expecting their first child any day now.
The Duchess of Sussex finished her official royal duties back in March – however, she is believed to have continued to work behind the scenes with her charities.
And while the royal couple have said they have “taken a personal decision to keep the plans around the arrival of their baby private,” Meghan has reportedly told her aides she is keen to return back to work.
According to The Sun, she is planning to follow the tradition American standard and take three months maternity leave.
However, a royal insider notes that Meghan may return to the public life sooner than that.
They said:
“Meghan has made it very clear she wants to return to work as soon as possible.
“She has huge amounts of energy, is extremely determined and wants to be as hands-on as possible with her charities.
“Nothing has been written into her diary just yet, as she wants to wait and see how she feels after having the baby.
“She’s pencilled in three months, but she’ll most likely return to public life in six weeks — on the Queen’s official birthday, Trooping the Colour, in June.
“Three months’ maternity is standard in the US for American mums – they don’t normally get the six or even 12 months women get here in the UK. So this is totally normal for Meghan.”
The latest reports about Baby Sussex’s arrival come soon after Meghan’s mum, Doria, is said to have arrived in the UK.
The 62-year-old is said to have hired a house sitter and someone to mind her two dogs before flying off.
An insider told The Sun that Doria “wants to be there for her daughter at this seismic event in her life.”
They added:
“She has sometimes worried about being so far away but she is absolutely going to be there for her at the birth.
“She wants to spend as much time as possible with her first grandchild and has come over for a sustained period of time.
