A woman is being questioned by police in the UK after allegedly abandoning her five-year-old daughter at bus stop in the seaside town of Brighton.
Authorities were alerted on Friday when the little girl was discovered sitting alone on a bench at 12.52pm.
CCTV footage showed the child, accompanied by a woman wearing a floral top and red backpack, arriving in the town by train from London at 12.30pm. The pair stopped at a public restroom, then walked along Queens Road before the woman vanished.

Following an urgent search, the mother of the girl was found 90 miles away at her home in London.
Detective Inspector Lee Horner said:
“We have looked at CCTV and traced the woman and the girl along Queens Road to the area of the Ibis, where we lose them.
“The girl then ends up back at the bus stop about 100m south of the station. We don’t know if she returned by herself or whether she lost mum there.”
The child is now in the care of social services while the Metropolitan Police lead the investigation into what happened.
