A mum got a life changing surprise on her late daughter’s birthday – when she found out she was about to give birth.
Aleece Geist lost her daughter Zentaviah in January 2014, after the five month old was admitted to the hospital for an ear infection.
According to Today.com, she celebrates Zentaviah’s birthday, August 4, every year at a park in Wisconsin – surrounded by family and friends.
But when it was time to head to the park this year, Aleece was feeling extremely exhausted and had abdominal pains.
Her boyfriend Cassidy took her to the hospital.
A few short hours later, the couple were stunned to find they were about to have a baby.
Mira Rector was born 6 pounds, 7 ounces – four years to the date after he late older sister.
Aleece told Today:
“It was complete and total breathtaking shock — during and after we found out we had a baby coming.
“Mira is an absolutely perfect baby out of everything.
“She is completely calm and content. It feels like at least for the moment that she’s being this amazing for us, as if she knows we weren’t prepared for this at all.”
And while the couple may have felt unprepared to welcome a new baby, Aleece insists she wouldn’t have wanted her pregnancy to go any other way.
She explained:
“If we had known Mira was coming, I think it would have been a lot scarier for me.
“I never knew what I would do with another child or how that would go because of what happened with Zen.
“That’s one thing, I’m glad i didn’t have to sit and think about it for nine months.”
Aleece also has an eight year old son Zekeiah.
The family never ended up making it to the park on August 4 this year, but have decided to reschedule the memorial until next month – where it will also be a baby shower for Mira.
