Mum thought she was in false labour but gave birth 11 weeks early

false labour

After being told she was experiencing false labour, one mum got a major surprise when she gave birth to her son at home.

Zakeria Richardson-Flory was having what she thought were false labour pains and after three days of this, she wanted a second opinion.

The expectant mum and her husband John were getting ready to go back to the hospital when she realised she was about to given birth.

The couple live in Fredericktown, Washington County and they spoke to news outlet CBS Pittsburgh how their little boy’s dramatic birth unfolded.

Panicking, Zakeria called John for help and he rang emergency services who quickly gave him instructions.

However, before the new dad could even put the advice into action, his son was born.

Mum Zakeria said:

“He came out. He was breathing on his own. He was crying. His heart was strong”.

John said that emergency services were fantastic and quickly told him what to do.

“Make sure the umbilical cord isn’t wrapped around his neck. Get him wrapped up in some clean blankets”.

Jahkie was born eleven weeks early, weighing just three pounds and one ounce.

His proud parents described how well he’s doing too, saying that he no longer needs a breathing tube and is steadily gaining weight.

Although it could be a few weeks before their little boy is allowed to go home, Zakeria and John couldn’t be any happier with their new arrival.
