Pregnant mum-of-one dies in incident at home in County Antrim

An investigation is underway.

A woman has died in an accident at her home in County Antrim.

The woman, who was 27 and four months pregnant, died at the scene at the house in Ballycastle, according to The Belfast Newsletter.

She has been named locally as Sinead Stewart, a married mother-of-one.

It had been reported that she died wile trying to escape a house fire but this was not in fact the cause of her death, according to authorities.

Fire and rescue personnel, police and an air ambulance attended the scene after the alarm was raised at around 5.30pm yesterday evening.

Police have ruled out anything suspicious and are treating her death as a tragic accident.

“The entire town has been left reeling from the news,” said local Sinn Féin councillor Cara McShane.

“I have extended my condolences to the family of the victim and I know that people in the local community will rally round to support her husband, child and wider family circle in the difficult days ahead.”
