Sunshine On The Way (But Grab A Brolly For Now)

It’s considerably cooler than usual this week, with temperatures as low as 14C in many parts of the country, but don’t pack away the paddling pool just yet; things are looking up.

While Wednesday will be everything we’ve come to expect of the quintessential Irish summer (cloudy and misty with widespread rain and drizzle followed by more heavy rain) Met Eireann assures us that drier weather will begin to develop locally over Munster and Connacht later in the afternoon and evening with top temperatures of 15 to 19 C., and the best of the sunshine over south Munster.

Thursday will be breezy and mostly cloudy, with some patches of drizzle, mist and fog, but parts of Munster and south Leinster could enjoy temperatures of up to 20 C in sunny breaks during the day.

Thankfully the rain is expected to clear across the country by Friday night, with brighter conditions on the horizon for the weekend.

Forecasters predict “a good deal of dry weather, with any rain or showers light and well scattered. Not much of a breeze either. Temperatures should be in the high teens in places on Saturday and a little higher on Sunday.”

Better bust out the barbecue folks, Summer 2016 is not giving up without a fight.
