Brussels is once again on high alert after an explosion outside a police building in the early hours of this morning.
According to the latest reports, nobody was injured after a car rammed the three outside fences of the Brussels Institute of Criminalistics and Criminology at around 3am local time.
According to Belgian media, one or more attackers detonated a bomb near the institute’s laboratories. Other sources suggest the resulting fire may have been caused by an arson attack.

The institute is located in the suburb of Neder-Over-Hembeek and is the facility is used to carry out forensic investigations in criminal cases.
In March three coordinated suicide bombings rocked Brussels: two at Brussels Airport in Zaventem and one at Maalbeek metro station in central Brussels, killing 32 people.
Islamic State claimed responsibility for the attacks and it was later confirmed that the same terrorist cell had planned the Paris attacks in November 2015, in which 130 people died.
Investigations into this morning’s explosion continue and no suspects or motivation have been ascertained as of yet.
