Here’s what you can expect over the next few days
It doesn’t look like there’ll be a return to normality on the weather front anytime soon as the latest forecast from Met Éireann predicts more freezing temperatures.
This update suggests there will be heavy and persistent snow today and the strong easterly winds we’ve become accustomed to aren’t going anywhere anytime soon.
There will be further “outbreaks of snow” across the midlands, north and eastern counties tonight although rain is predicted for the south.
Continuing very cold with scattered outbreaks of sleet & snow. The snow will be heavy & persistent across the S&E. Further accumulations will occur. Ulster & Conn will have good dry spells & the snow will turn to sleet in some coastal areas of the S&E. Strong E’ly winds. 0 to 3°C pic.twitter.com/XLfc9Br51T

Tomorrow then includes sleet but the snow will continue on high ground and in parts of Northern Ireland.
At the moment, the national forecaster says that the cold weather will continue for most of the weekend with widespread frost overnight on Sunday.
Monday will improve somewhat with dry weather in the south but again, there could be frost overnight.
On Tuesday, northern counties are likely to experience wintry showers but the south might see an extended period of dry weather.
However, it’s likely to remain cold and frosty all week so don’t get too excited.
