Just in case you had planned a trip to the beach today.
Two of Dublin’s most popular beaches are closed until Monday following a sewage spillage.
Dublin City Council confirmed that a temporary bathing water prohibition was issued for Dollymount Strand and Sandymount Strand.
It’s believed heavy rain at the end of last week caused an overflow of sewage from the River Liffey onto the beaches.
Samples of water were taken on Friday and the results will be available on Monday.
For now, as a precautionary measure, the beaches remain closed to swimmers.
