Of late, there seems to be more and more stories of ‘breastfeeding shaming’ doing the rounds.
We hear about mums being ‘encouraged’ to cover up, go some place private and sometimes actually asked to leave wherever they might be nursing.
As we all know, a baby is hungry whenever they are hungry and even if you were Queen Of The World, you would have to drop everything and tend to your little one’s needs if they needed you to.
Whatever way you choose to feed your baby, they tend not to be programmed to become hungry at a time that’s convenient for anyone other than themselves.
Mum Jessie Maher posted a video to her Facebook page this week of the STRANGEST verbal abuse I have ever seen from a man who wasn’t happy with her feeding her child at the cafe in a Target store in the US.
In Jessie’s post, she says that he shouted at her, “That’s fucking disgusting” and actually called the defenceless mum “a whore” before she hit the ‘record’ button on her phone.
No, we can’t believe it either.
Although it is a very difficult watch, we are taking heart in the many sane and nice people who came to Jessie’s defence.
I love the staff at Target who create a barrier between Jessie and this total weirdo and I LOVE the woman who stands with her and tells her to never be ashamed to feed her baby.
