WEEKEND WEATHER: Here Comes The Rain Again…

If you’re due a duvet day, today would be the ideal time to take it.

A status yellow rainfall warning has been issued for south Munster on Friday, with scattered heavy rain affecting the rest of the country throughout the day.

Those going about their business in southern, eastern and northeastern areas should dress for hail showers and isolated thunderstorms on parts of the east coast, with highest temperatures of 11 to 14 degrees.

It’s finally time to light the fire, with temperatures dropping to four or five degrees in some parts of the country overnight and it might be prudent to stock up on firewood; the outlook for the weekend isn’t great, according to the weather boffins at Met Eireann.

Saturday will be a wet one in most areas, with prolonged heavy or possibly thundery rain likely in parts of the east and south for a time on Saturday night with the risk of local spot flooding.

Sunday will bring a little respite, but sunny spells will soon be replaced by showers and longer spells of rain.
