WEEKEND WEATHER: It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like…

With Halloween over and one with for another year, all eyes are on December 25th (even if we are determined to avoid the mince pies until month end).

Now the weather is about to do its bit to get us into the Christmas spirit: the unseasonably mild autumn temperatures are set to plummet this weekend, increasing the possibility of snow in some parts of the country.

While Met Eireann is forecasting cool and breezy conditions for today, with sunny spells and showers in Connacht, Ulster and west Munster, tonight will be dry, with temperatures dropping to between one and six degrees.

Saturday should be cool, dry and bright for most of us, with sunny spells allowing ample opportunity for a lap of the park or an hour in the playground. It’ll turn frosty on Saturday night however, as temperatures drop to between zero and four degrees.

Sunday will also be dry and bright, but it’s back to the thermals on Sunday night, which will be cold and mostly dry with frost descending in many areas and a scattering of snow possible on higher ground.

And the chill continues, with a sharp frost developing on Monday night as temperatures drop  as low as minus two.

Hot chocolate, anyone?
