Order from the Summer Menu at BT
Brown Thomas, Dublin
Nabbed a sitter for the afternoon? Take a date to BT, where the new Patrick Guilbaud-inspired summer menu is receiving rave reviews from ladies who lunch. Expect low-carb and delicious free range omelettes served with gruyere and bacon (€13.95) for brekkie (add a glass of Brut Champagne if you’re splashing out) and Small Plates of vegetable crisps, butterbean and chickpea hummus, langoustine linguine and lamb burgers served with harissa, mint and coriander mayo at lunch. The selection of salads is impressive too, a good option if you’re saving yourself for the chocolate and raspberry torte afterwards.
Bargain booze on Leeside
On Wednesday nights in Pigalle on Cork’s Barrack Street, €20 will nab you a wood-fired pizza and a bottle of wine. On Mondays you can order a meat and cheese board with a bottle of vino for €25 (works wonders on Monday-itis), but if you’re popping by on the weekend however, we highly recommend getting stuck in to the cocktail menu, particularly the ‘Café Exquisite’ – Bacardi 8, Patrón XO, cacao, espresso, muscovado sugar and dark chocolate shaken and served in a teacup. Warning: You will also need a babysitter for the morning after.
