This is just heartbreaking.

Six-year-old Bradley Lowery, who touched hearts across the world, lost his battle with neuroblastoma on July 7th.

Bradley was first diagnosed with the aggressive form of childhood cancer when he was two and although he received the all-clear in 2015, he and his family were told that it had returned in July of last year.

His mother Gemma has given her first interview since losing her little boy and her chat with ITV News would touch a heart of stone.

The little boy was a major football fan and forged a special relationship with English footballer Jermain Defoe who became ‘his best friend’.

His face became well-recognised in the months before his death and Gemma said the fact that Bradley had such an impact on others brought their family great comfort.

Speaking to ITV News Tyne Tees Correspondent Rachel Bullock, Gemma said:

“We’re just a little family from a village and he had that impact and that is comforting because, I know he only lived six years, he made the most of his six years and he made a massive impact on the world.

“It really does give us some sort of pride and we’re proud of him that he made such an impact on other people’s lives and that’s my baby and our little boy”.

She then went on to say that she is now concentrating on the Bradley Lowery Foundation which has been established to help sick children and support their families.

Gemma said that this has “given her a way forward”, fundraising for treatments and raising awareness to help other people in the same situation as she and her family found themselves in.

Heartbreakingly, Gemma said that her little boy wouldn’t want her and his Dad Carl to cry, he would want them to be happy as he was the happiest child “always smiling”.
