It is something that siblings often tease each other about but a new study is claiming that parents actually do have a favourite child.
According to Cosmopolitan, research from’ The Science of Us’ has found that parents tend to show preferential treatment towards the firstborn.
For the study, 384 pairs of siblings were asked about differences in how they were treated and how it affected their self-esteem. The parents were also interviewed.
The findings suggested that firstborn children received preferential treatment, with younger siblings saying their parents were stricter and gave them less attention.
As if that isn’t solid enough evidence, over 70 per cent of parents admitted to treating one child better than the other.
