Mum sparks debate after revealing husband said daughter’s accessory was ‘trashy’

Her husband was “outraged” after seeing the baby wearing one.

A mum reached out to the internet to settle a disagreement with her husband over whether or not “headbands are chavvy on babies”.

The Mumsnet user explained that her husband was “outraged” after she had dressed her little girl with a white headband, telling her that it was “trashy”.

But, disagreeing with her partner, the woman took to the parenting forum to seek out advice.

She wrote on Mumsnet:

“Please settle an argument for me. Are headbands on baby girls chavvy?

“DH was outraged I put one on DD and said they’re chavvy.

“I don’t think they are!”

An adorable little diva baby girl dressed in sunglasses, headband and pearl bracelet.

However, unfortunately for the original poster, the majority of Mumsnet users seemed to agree with her husband.

One mum said:

“I don’t personally like them as I think they are tacky! I would never put such a thing on my dd.

“However what someone puts on their own baby I couldn’t care less.”

Another added:

“Personally I think they’re utterly ridiculous and look horrendous.”

Someone else, rather bluntly, wrote:

“It’s awful. Please don’t do this to her, she’s not a Yorkshire Terrier.

“And if I were here I’d find it really irritating.”

Other commenters warned her against the trend, saying that it was a potential hazard to her little one.

One person wrote:

“Yes, chavvy and dangerous. If they slip down over a small baby’s face they can suffocate.”

Another added:

“Choosing to put a strangulation risk on your child to prove they are female is stupid.”
