Supernanny Jo Frost urges parents to seek help if their child is violent

She's been filming a documentary about child murder.

“I do not believe children are born evil.”

Jo Frost has said that parents of violent kids must seek help as early as possible.

Best known as the expert on Channel 4’s Supernanny, she’s now fronting a documentary about children who have committed murder.

In four-part series Britain’s Killer Kids, Jo looks at a number of cases and asks what drives a child to kill someone.

She said she believes families with a violent child don’t always get the right support.

“I am concerned about the length of time it takes for the families to receive the help they need,” she told the Huffington Post.

“The first thing they should do is take ownership of the situation and seek (that) help.

“That way it is possible to identify where the violence is coming from and then be able to get the right expertise to help the child and the family.”

Filming the documentary was an eye-opener for her, she revealed.

She said she now believes the reasons that children commit such a serious crime are complex but often arise form their upbringing.

“What I have learned on the journey I have been on whilst making this show is that there is no simple answer. I do not believe children are born evil.

“Each of the four cases the show investigates had a common denominator of the children having a complex, if not abusive, home environment.

“I have worked with children of all ages and have found that their issues usually come from a place of innocence, which is why being on this journey has been shocking for me on a personal level.”

The series is currently running on UK channel Crime + Investigation on Sunday nights.
