My very clever late granny used to always point out that when it comes down to getting someone to tell you the truth, children are your best bet.
And being a mum now myself, I can see how right she was. Children do indeed have a way of making us see who we really are. This can, of course, manifest itself when they repeat words we really wish they wouldn’t repeat (they weren’t meant to hear that!) or when you catch them acting or saying something that is so like you.
We have all had moments like this.
Which is probably why this post about a little girl dressing up as “a mum” for Halloween is going all sorts of viral.
It was US mum Rachael Fansler Beachy who posted a photo on Facebook of her friend’s daughter all ready for Halloween. She says the child is dressed up “as a mum,” and it’s so real it’s almost scary.
Well, you can say one thing for little Laine, she kind of got the look down to a tee. Dark circles? Check. Messy bun? Yup. Tracksuit bottoms? Sure thing. Oh, and that crazed, “I haven’t slept in four years” look in her eyes? Perfection.
And let’s not forget the accessories – which are on point. One child literally dangling from her leg (been there!), and the other in a heavy car seat – perfect for lugging around on school runs and when you’re running errands, of course.
There is no denying the post hit home with mamas everywhere, as it has currently been shared almost 10,000 times and gathered almost 20,000 comments.
You got us, Lainie. Give her all the best costume awards NOW – the rest of you can head on home.
