This Picture of a Breastfeeding Firefighter Is Getting a Lot of Love on Facebook

Earlier this month, people took to Facebook to praise the policewoman who saved a baby girl by breastfeeding her and now there is a lot of love for this picture of a firefighter breastfeeding her daughter.

The photograph below was uploaded to the ‘Country Fire Authority’ Facebook page on Monday and it has already received almost 40,000 Likes and over 4,000 shares. The caption reads: “One of the many faces of CFA in 2016.”

It shows proud mum and CFA volunteer Angela breastfeeding her child at a community event. The organisation clarified in the comments that there were no fires nearby when the picture was taken and it was a safe environment for her child.

According to The Guardian, Angela sent the picture to the CFA because it asked for images which captured the spirit of the nation to mark Australia Day.

She told the publication: “To me it represented an Australian organisation having such a positive impact on women and mums, so to me it was a representation of my Australia.

“For the CFA, it was really about showing the diversity in the CFA – that mothers can be firefighters and fathers can be firefighters.”

The post has received a few negative comments but the majority of the feedback has been positive with many praising the organisation for posting it.

One wrote: “I LOVE this! So fantastic that the CFA encourages you to combine family and firefighting, best of both worlds. Such a beautiful picture, you look so proud”.

Another said: “I’m reading way more positive than negative comments but I say well done CFA for putting this up and well done to the mother for being confident enough to ignore any ignorant idiots that put down feeding in public – hopefully they are aware there are laws – she is allowed to feed in 99% of places in public! You however are not allowed to discriminate! I think it’s brilliant! Good job CFA Mummy vol – stay proud!!”
